The Dallas Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a famous attraction in Dallas as well as a community staple.
It comprises of 66 acres of beautiful gardens, fountains, play areas, and fantastic views of downtown Dallas across the exquisite White Rock Lake. From seasonal blooms and holiday attractions to music and wine tastings, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden offers a wonderful array of events and activities for all ages to enjoy. Granado Communications Group assists the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden throughout the year by participating on their volunteer public relations committee.
40 Acts of Kindness (#40AOK) Challenge
The #40AOK Challenge was a movement encouraging individuals to perform 40 random acts of kindness in 40 days in their communities and share their actions on social media in hopes that they would inspire others to follow suit.
During the 40-day challenge, Granado Communications Group helped #40AOK organize and publicize events that garnered national and local news coverage. At one particular event at F. M. Gilbert Elementary in Irving, #40AOK surprised school children with new backpacks filled with school supplies. The challenge: use the supplies to brighten the day of a senior citizen by making a handmade card.
Cherokee Creek Music Festival
Music meets generosity at the annual Cherokee Creek Music Festival (CCMF) in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
Put on by Cherokee Crossroads, Inc., a 501(c)(3), the CCMF benefits children’s charities across Texas and the nation. Its lineup of musical artists this year included Jackson Browne, Mark Cohn, Shawn Colvin, Jack Ingram and a surprise visit from Don Henley. We are proud to serve on the CCMF Planning Committee for the second year. Among other things, we are responsible for spearheading the planning and implementation of the CCMF Sponsor Golf Scramble. In 2011, we had more than 100 sponsors and their guests participate!
Swim Across America
Olympic swimmers teamed up with hundreds of area swimmers in June 2011 to jump in the water and make waves against cancer, raising more than $350,000 for the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas – more than $100,000 over goal!
Granado Communications Group coordinated more than 25 local and national TV, radio, and print interviews to secure publicity for both the Olympian Swim Clinic and Open Water Swim event. Swim Across America, Inc. has raised more than $30 million for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events. Dallas joins cities such as Boston, New York, Baltimore and San Francisco in hosting this inspiring event.
